Meet Alex Conan

A passionate freelance creative transforming everyday moments into extraordinary handcrafted art pieces.

My story

Hi, I’m Alex Conan — a self-taught, multi-disciplinary creative based in Sydney, Australia. After years of running a café, I discovered my true passion in art and illustration, officially stepping into the creative world in 2019 when I won the People’s Choice Award at the Bayside Art Festival.

I work in bold, bright colours with playful, nature-inspired motifs — animals, florals, cosmic vibes, and soft feminine forms. From painting and printmaking to hand-built ceramics and digital illustration, my goal is to create pieces that are both beautiful and practical.

Whether through client collaborations, murals, or my own online shop filled with prints, ceramics, and stationery, I love bringing colour, joy, and creativity into everyday life — and I’m always excited to explore new collaborations.

Alex's Artistic Journey and Services

She uses a myriad of tools such as gouache paint, ink, watercolour, acrylic, block printing and clay but also indulges in digital work too. Hard-working and passionate, Alex delivers a high quality standard to her clients across the globe. Always up for a challenge, Alex has worked on many exciting and different client projects such as handwritten typographies, enamel pins, key rings, graphic scribe posters, corporate gifts, hand-painted coffee tins, e-book covers as well as murals. She also pours herself into her online shop where she sells prints, block printed totes, ceramics, journals and stickers.

Early Years

Creative Curiosity

From a young age, I explored multiple creative mediums, drawn especially to art and illustration. Experimentation was key — from painting to printmaking, I loved discovering new ways to express myself.

Pre-Art Career

Café Owner

Before fully pursuing art, I ran a café in Sydney. This chapter taught me the value of connection, conversation, and creativity in everyday life — lessons that still inform my artistic practice today.

2019

Artistic Debut & Recognition

Debuted publicly at the Bayside Art Festival, winning the People’s Choice Award among 20 artists. This pivotal moment inspired me to embrace my creative passion professionally.

2021–2022

Expanding Mediums & Projects

Worked across gouache, ink, watercolour, acrylic, block printing, clay, and digital illustration. Took on diverse client projects worldwide
