The evil eye is a curse from Greek culture dating back thousands of years and still exists today. It states that when someone is envious or jealous of you they have the power to give you an ‘evil glare’ and send back luck your way. To combat this from happening, wearing or hanging an eye in your home can break the ‘curse’.
I created this ceramic wall hanging as a good luck token and to help banish any unwanted ill will. Made completely by me by using clay, I moulded it into shape, fired it in a kiln, painted the blue eye motif and flowers, sealed with glaze and ran it through a second firing. This is a lovely earthy clay with a unique fleck and earthy feel. I then created a hanger, made and attached the white tassel.
Made from my little studio in Sydney, this one of a kind decoration is signed on the rear by me using an etching tool.
