These mugs are made using the slab build method. Using a flat rolled out piece of clay I cut the desired shape of the mug wall, then I curve it until the two ends meet and join them together, mould the mushrooms and the flowers and adorn the handle and then attach it to the mug wall.
Each colour is hand painted twice to withstand the high temperature of the kiln, without adding the second layer the colour burns off and isn’t vibrant or opaque.
Slab building renders a lovely rustic and chunky effect with hand made wobbly vibes, if you like wheel spun ceramics this piece is not for you!
