I created these by hand carving rubber stamps and Lino blocks and then using fabric ink to hand stamp them onto 100% cotton canvas tote bags. Please note: Due to the block printing nature of this method, your canvas tote is one of a kind! Each print comes out with different ink placement, grain, lines, colour and depth etc. The items pictured are an example the item and not a true reflection of the exact piece you will receive.
Block printing is a fun and timely process. It requires patience and perseverance! The process starts with a sketch onto a rubber stamp or a lino block. Then using special carving tools, you slowly start to carve out pieces of the rubber or Lino. Once that is finished you then lay down ink onto glass and using a roller you roll into the ink and then roll the ink out onto the rubber stamp. You then place the the ink side of the stamp down onto the tote bag and use weight and rubbing to help press the ink into the cotton.

This took a total of 15 hours to complete from concept to finished piece. I also used a lino block to create this- making it much more challenging as I had a lot of lettering and curves in the design.
