Sand Altar

The sand altars are built with the intention of creating a sacred space for you in your home. Whether you use it as a remembrance shrine, prayer altar, spell casting altar or however you wish to use this. The sand altar is a free standing or wall hanging piece of functional art.

Made using my own template, I roll out a slab of clay, cut out the pieces and assemble the, one by one. It then gets bisque fired, hand painted twice in black underglaze and then fired a second time with clear gloss glaze. These are a beautiful and decorative form that showcase a sun motif or moon motif symbolizing birth and death, light and dark, strength and stillness.
